Verges Of Versions
SUBVERSIONING
In the world of code re-use and maintenance, one of the best tools out there for tracking both miniscule and significant changes to your software programs lie in how well you maintain those changes across your application platform.
Likewise, as vendor requirements, functionality and module additions may change within a project several times before completion, the ability for programmers to revert to previous versions of their applications, store the additions, and likewise reference those changes, is imperative to today’s developer.
Subversioning software allows users to handle these tasks quite well.
For the average or lone developer, Subversion Clients are more than suited to meet the demands of maintaining your development projects as you build them.
And for those working in a more intensive or team-oriented environment where projects might be shared by others, Subversion Servers help the team get the job done.
HOW THEY WORK
Subversion Clients - Are usually shell extensions that allow developers to store, check-out, and save versions of a program. Users can revert changes made to an application if an error is introduced into the program, and likewise make changes only to working copies of a program without committing any changes at all to an application until it meets the developer’s satisfaction.
Developers can manage files, websites, or other large or cumbersome collections of information with ease, as change tracking methods allow version numbers to automatically be assigned within the versioning application, allowing programming tasks to be completed with ease, as developers are free to use their production efforts without the hassles of dealing with how their applications will be tracked across development cycles.
Subversion Servers – These applications usually work in the same way as most subversion clients do, with the added robustness of allowing a number of users to work on and make changes to an application at the same time. Changes within an application are automatically versioned between users, allowing for application cohesion to occur with ease and efficacy within collaborative projects.
Subversion servers are designated in a centralized location where users can access projects and save them locally to make changes and satisfy project tasks.
Once the application modules have been satisfied, the files can then be conjoined to develop the finished project, saving both the joined and individual efforts within the application.
A Few Noted Applications Are
AnkhSVN
eSVN
PixelNovel Timeline
QSvn
RabbitVCS
RapidSVN
SubTitle
SVN Notifier
TortoiseSVN
Trac
ViewVC
VisualSVN
XCode
GIT
VisualSVN
Microsoft Visual Studio
Versioning allows developers to manage and organize their application revisions with ease.
Likewise, in the world of application development, where a problem in one place can cause applications to malfunction in others, these software applications have saved many – a – programmers in their programming tasks.
So for all my developers out there, both the novice and expert alike, be sure to incorporate versioning in your projects, as they will surely save you both effort and error in the long run.

POSH PERSONALIZATION CON'T
In this next faction of the series on POSH PERSONALIZATION, we explore how to utilize free and low-cost fax to e-mail Facsimile Services.
Why use post, when you can send files electronically through facsimile services, almost instantaneously for a fraction of the cost?!
There are quite a few internet utilities that allow both the professional and the enthusiast to send their files and documents at minimal cost, using a fax to e-mail protocol that sends faxes directly to your electronic messaging inbox.
A FEW NOTED ONES OUT THERE ARE:
FaxZero
(faxzero.com)
FaxZero is an internet application that allows users to send up to 3 pages of free fax files along with a cover page. Likewise, there is a very low-cost fee of around $2 to send a higher number of pages (up to 25 ). Certainly cheaper than sending your files by courier.

POSH PERSONALIZATION
For all my frugal folks who enjoy the benefits of sleek personalization when providing others your electronic messaging contact or branding information, without breaking the bank, look no further!
There are a few ways to procure both personalized telephone numbers along with signature electronic messaging accounts that provide all the pizzazz and professionalism of most high priced service providers for a fraction of the cost.
Securing Personalized Telephone Numbers
Nowadays, most business and communication is done on the fly, as the ever increasing demands of most of our daily tasks can take us anywhere and at anytime. Hence, folks are ditching the high priced office space for more efficient means of managing both personal or professional projects and goals.
Likewise, just as some of the major VOIP (Voice Over IP - Or Internet Phones For My Curious Readers) providers use internet protocols, such as SKYPE or VONAGE in making telephony available at fairly decent prices, there are also free ones that work just as well. One of them being TEXTNOW.
For the on-the-go enthusiast looking for a way to communicate, you can do so at a fraction of the cost of other providers.
TEXTNOW is a free telephony provider that works with wireless networks. With the provider, you receive a free telephone phone number, and depending on your network provider, free access to make and receive phone calls anywhere in the U.S. Just as with a few of the BIG GUYS, there might be a miniscule provider equipment fee for consumers to purchase.
Securing Personalized Electronic Messaging Accounts
Customization is key! So what better way to wow your personal and professional dealings than with a personalized electronic messaging source that speaks volumes to what you or your brand represents.
Adding specificity to your messaging account domains, gives the polished professionalism of your signature style and also allows others a glimpse of your identifying product, trade or industry.
Likewise, you can personalize your electronic communication for almost no cost. HERE’S HOW
Most domain providers include packaged message forwarding bundles when you purchase domain names. Well noted ones are HostGator, GoDaddy, BlueHost, Google Domains, and Network Solutions to name a few
You can purchase a domain name that represents your brand for around $20 a year and use your free electronic messaging applications, like GMAIL, YAHOO, or OUTLOOK to forward your branded electronic messages to.
Simply choose the e-mail name of your liking and the provider can forward the messages to either of your free email accounts.
You can use names like
info@mydomain.com
help@mydomain.com
Etc…
And have them all sent to your free electronic messaging accounts.
And Viola...Personalized Electronic Messages Served!
**Be sure to ask the stated providers if they forward emails before purchasing a domain name. Most do, so there shouldn’t be a problem. We just want to verify things before we get started.
And that’s it folks - A few sure ways to minimize expenditures while maximizing the posh-ness of personalized telephony and electronic messaging accounts.
Your’re Welcome!

MAKING FACES
We’ve all seen those unsightly long web links or URL’s (Uniform Resource Locators...For My Curious Readers), that are terribly hard to copy and use or read.
Why not use a link that is descriptive enough and also maintains a simplistic look and feel, while protecting your internal infrastructure from prying eyes, or those with malicious motives.
With a URL mask, you can do just that!
ASP.NET MVC Page Routing, allows you to create branded or vanity URL’s that are simplistic and customizable.
Page Routing can also serve to instantiate link uniformity, shorten link lengths, and likewise add a layer of obfuscation to your page link file extensions.
For instance, if your Web Code Page is “MYPAGE.ASPX”, you can use MVC routing to display just “MYPAGE”, ditching the file extension, or even “MYNEWPAGENAME” in creating a new page resource name in its place to manufacture user-friendly URL’s that are also useful in securing web search optimizations with your website page names.
An Example Of Page Routing Can Be Found Here.
And Viola...Page Name Routing Served!...We’re Making Faces.

Reflections
Marketing in all it's clever glory has attracted consumers both wide and far in purchasing software applications that mightn't have been necessary to accomplish many of your programming tasks.
Amongst them are the plethora of installer applications that profess to have all the bells whistles, frills and added functionality within them that allow programmers to create sophisticated installer applications with ease and simplicity.
However, if you have a Windows based machine and use any version of VISUAL STUDIO, you have at your disposal all the arsenal of tools you'll need to create your very own installer application, even without having to install the Visual Studio Installer or third party Installer Plugins.
How so you ask? By using .NET REFLECTION. Yep, that's right... Utilizing .NET REFLECTION techniques in implementing your application installer programming tasks allows programmers to create installer applications as creative and sophisticated as your depth of conceptualization and artistic license can take you. And best of all, you can do so, without having to deal with the hassles involved in working with foreign applications or plugin interfaces.
.Net Reflection methods allow programmers to access classes, interfaces, files and assembly information to utilize data points within them at application runtime.
Let's say you have installer application or cabinet files to copy on the target client machine you are installing your application on. All you'd have to do is save those files within your application project and viola....file copy method served!
SQL, POWERSHELL and COM file types can also be saved inside an application project and invoked and rendered within the application at runtime, making way for a few interesting application implementations to be created.
So give it a try by copying files from one location to another on your machine from within your visual studio project... and for my developer enthusiast's - give it a go at rendering or invoking application functionality from the files within the application.
You'll find some useful information on Reflection here.

Underground Railroads
Did You Know…
If you have a high speed internet connection with enough bandwidth, you can host your own website using LOCALHOST PROTOCOLS.
Yep, that’s right, your computer’s LOCALHOST development environment is as good as some of the best WEB HOSTING providers out there.
All that’s needed is a NETWORK TUNNELING PROTOCOL that exposes your web application to the outside world.
Simply configure your router and forward your LOCAL MACHINE IP PORT to the LAN address of the machine running your web application...and Viola. Website Served!
This method allows an outside end-user to access your network, and is a great way to impose a testing server for your work, or simply to have a look at how your site looks to the outside world.
It also allows you to ensure that there aren’t any bloopers in your web protocols, as we all hate those don’t we!
Hosting from LOCALHOST is also a good way to compile a portfolio of your work without having to incur the added fees of most hosting providers.
Oh yeah...did I mention that you can do all of this absolutely for FREE! That’s right, you can administer tunneling protocols for free with “BORING PROXY”.
Here’s How:

Say What...
Why recreate the wheel if you don’t have to!
With Interprocess Communication(IPC), and a few tweaks here and there, developers can use the functionality of some of your favorite programs with ease, using IPC functionality native within most Integrated Development Environments.
IPC methods allow you to “borrow” the programming tasks already completed by some of your favorite applications, like enhanced file search feature techniques, without having to code the functionality yourself.
Administrative tasks and advanced machine based automations are also at your disposal with IPC, as its claim to fame is the fact that the core functionality within other applications can be utilized within a single platform to bring you the best of all worlds.
With IPC, you can also use these programming techniques to work with different programming languages within a single application as well.
Yep, that’s right you can call on and use the applications on your native machine or server to delegate your programming tasks for processing, such as accessing video streaming applications, rendering batch files or even sending commands for processing and receiving the results from one application within another using (a)synchronous messaging techniques.
Here’s a list of a few applications that play nicely using IPC techniques.
Windows Powershell
MSSQL SERVER
ADOBE PDF
MICROSOFT .NET PLATFORM
Your Favorite Media or Video Streaming Applications
MICROSOFT OFFICE SUITE OF PRODUCTS
ORACLE
Here’s an example of what IPC can do! It uses one of my favorite mathematical programs...OCTAVE.
So why not save your self some time with IPC, give it a try...and if anyone asks, tell them OmniTekk said so! You’re Welcome...

Let There Be Light
Have a small or medium sized business with low data warehousing needs….
IOS or ANDROID developer who needs a server-less way to store the information from your user app…
Don’t want to bother with timely configuration hassles or are looking for an up-and-running solution for your data application needs...
...Then SQLITE is for you!
SQLITE, as its name implies, is a light-weight, server-less database file system that allows users to store data without the size constraints of a full-featured database management system database engine, such as MSSQL or ORACLE databases.
With SQLITE users can store application data while maintaining low storage needs. It’s a perfect tool for the busy developer.
A Few Noteworthy Benefits Are…
There is no client-server structure
It’s a self-contained database file implementation. Just a few commands, and viola… your data is stored and accessible without long drawn out configuration methods. Not to worry though.
While there is no cumbersome database configuration or settings to bother with, this storage solution still packs a mean punch.
Performance Agility
SQLITE supports almost all SQL-92 data standards, so you can rest assured that the quality of its functionality is just as good as those of the big guys.
Serverless Platform
The SQLITE library accesses its database files directly, giving users both manageable access and a simple, yet efficient programming solution.
Reliabe
The database implementations created with SQLITE are highly reliable with very few anomalies. Just ask some of the big name industry folks who use it, like ADOBE, AMAZON, and GOOGLE.
So if you’re thinking of using a low maintenance data storage solution that allows you to access your information without the complexity involved in using other commercial data development solutions, SQLITE is the way to go.
Give it a try and LET THERE BE LITE...SQLITE.
